A Tweet New Home Page

There’s been quite a bit of buzz about Twitter’s home page. There’s loads of new dynamic content; you’ll see trending topics, ‘randomly’ highlighted Twitter users (yeah, right), and then even some top tweets. So what’s the point? It’s all about retention. Twitter has been having a hard time with quitters, and they’re hoping that this new home page will help with that. Some first-time users don’t clearly understand what Twitter is all about, and end up throwing in the towel.

This story at PCWorld sums it up pretty well.

Some say it’s due to a misunderstanding of how Twitter works; others argue that the service seems too shallow upon first glance. Either way, with its updated look, Twitter hopes to better show off the positive aspects of its network and help outsiders find something that’ll draw them in.

Hopefully more and more people will continue to use Twitter without giving up so easily. The value is in the community and building relationships, so if you’re not already there, we’d love to have you.
